“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.”

A Day of Independent Travel

A full Grade 12 cohort. No adults. No supervision.

Hundreds of kilometres of inter-state travel - on basic trains, autos, and buses. Learning to navigate public transport as they go. With little money and no smartphones.

Adventures, surprises, and tasks are planned along the way, and the trips are full of new experiences, mistakes, learning, and teamwork. At the end of the day, parents and teachers are waiting to greet them and to hear about their journeys. As they share their experiences with joy, excitement and a sense of ownership, we see the young adults ready to step out in the world.

We believe the confidence to navigate life beyond school begins on days like this where we choose to step back and place our trust in them to find their way.

These day trips are planned towards the end of their school year, and is slowly becoming a tradition with each graduating batch.

Along the Coast to Gokarna

Over the course of a week-long coastal trek, students traverse 12 beaches, beginning from the quiet shores of Honnavar and ending at the bustling temple town of Gokarna. Along the way, they encounter fishermen, tourists, and members of the Halakki tribe, gaining insight into the diverse cultural and ecological landscape of the region.

Students engage deeply with the coastal fishing communities to understand their struggles—particularly the challenges posed by commercial fishing practices, changing seasonal patterns, and the resulting impact on traditional livelihoods.

A key ecological highlight of the journey is the observation of Olive Ridley sea turtle nesting, offering students a chance to reflect on marine conservation and coastal biodiversity.

The journey culminates in Gokarna, where students explore the town’s spiritual heritage and layered history, witnessing firsthand the intersection of ecology, culture, and faith along the coast.
